“We need to view God for who he is, not who we want him to be.” –Cecil Bean
It’s easy to believe in “our version” of God. But the God revealed in Scripture challenges our preconceived ideas and ideals.
A true faith embraces God as he has revealed himself to be, not God as we want him to be.
One Tweet
A powerful concept and one that syncs with Scripture.
“As a man thinks within himself, so he is.” (Proverbs 23.7)
What is it you can’t stop thinking about these days? How will it shape the person you’re becoming?

Mapping Evangelical Twitter - Neil Shenvi
In recent years there’s been a lot of talk regarding the growing tribalism among evangelicals. Neil Shenvi took a creative approach and ran the numbers on Twitter. The result is an interesting visual that maps the tribes.
You can use it to take a look at the people you follow, the podcasts you listen to, the sermons you download, and the blogs you read. If all your media is coming from a narrow band of sources, you’re probably living in an echo chamber.

Manhood and the Metaverse - Upstream
This is one of the most insightful conversations I’ve heard on the state of masculinity in modern times. High, high recommend!
Our society is facing a crisis when it comes to gender and masculinity. To a large degree we’ve lost the basic understanding and practice of manhood. I listened to the episode this past weekend with my two younger sons (ages 20 and 15) and it lead to some great discussion.
Check it out on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

This song was in my head this past week so I decided to listen to it during one of my morning devotions. Originally written as a children’s song, it has an encouraging message for us adults as well.
All Things Bright and Beautiful
And here’s a more churched up version.
Personal Note
This past Sunday I ran the Carlsbad half marathon. It was fun and reminded me that I want to:
Do hard things
Do things outdoors
Do things with friends
